What we are doing.
Vanuatu is home to nineteen species of native reptiles including the flowerpot snake, found only on Efate. The Fijian banded iguana is a highly endangered species (Brachylophus fasciatus) and was introduced to Vanuatu in the 1960s, where several wild populations have taken root. Once found on every island in Fiji, they are now limited to only one and on the verge of extinction on their native islands. Through our captive breeding program, we hope to increase the numbers here in Vanuatu, so one day, they may be re-introduced to the islands of Fiji and reclaim their native habitats.
